Serving Our Community

At Faith United Methodist Church we are dedicated to our congregation, with programs to meet the needs of everyone. We hope you will find something through which you can express your faith, seek fellowship, an become part of a church family that meets our needs as a Christian and as an individual.  

Missions:

Faith United Methodist Church is a congregation in mission.  We support and actively participate in several missions both global and local. Below you will find the many ways in which we are doing God's work through our prayers, our presence, and our service.  Check the calendar for dates on these important mission events through out the year!

Local events:

  • Food collection for Trenton Food Pantry (multiple times per year)
  • Mother's Day food boxes for local families in need
  • Back to School Gift Cards for local families in need
  • Back packs and school supplies for local children
  • Canned soup drive for local soup kitchen
  • Collection of Health Kits for Warming Center
  • Thanksgiving food boxes for local families in need
  • Christmas food boxes for local families in need
  • "Give a Child a Merry Christmas" for local families

National events:

  • "Sock it to Hunger" for UMCOR
  • Heifer sales by Sunday school students
  • CROP Walk

Adult Mission Trip:

  • We traveled to Red Bird Mission in Kentucky in 2014.  Nine members of Faith UMC participated.
  • We traveled to God's Country Cooperative Parish in Newbury, Michigan in 2015.  Six members of Faith UMC participated and we were joined by friends from another Methodist Church.
  • We traveled to Red Bird Mission in Kentucky in 2016.  Seven members of Faith UMC participated.
  • We traveled to Houghton Lake, Michigan the week of August 13, 2017 to work with the North Country Cooperative Parish.  Six members of Faith UMC participated.

Caring for the Caregiver:

Our caregivers support group meets on the second Monday of every month, 7-8 p.m..  If you are caring for a family member, friend, etc. this is a place to come to discuss what is on your mind and get support from others in your situation.  Please contact the church with any questions.

Youth Activities

  • Our High School Youth participate yearly in a mission trip.  This year they will be traveling to Chicago the week of July 9, 2017.  Contact our Youth Director, Cheryl Lentner, for more information.
  • Vacation Bible School  will begin on Sunday, July 23 and run through Wednesday, July 26.  Our program this year is called “Maker Fun Factory” where the children will learn to look for God’s creativity in the world around them.  Look for more information and how you can participate!
  • SHINE  (Sharing His Incredible News Everywhere) is a week of mission work for students entering grades 4 through 8 in the fall of 2017.  Our SHINE program is scheduled for August 21 thru August 24.  The schedule of activities has not been determined, so mark your calendar now and look for more information in future newsletters and bulletins.
