Central Passage
Mark 10:13-16
1st Scripture Reading: Job 2:3-6 CEB                      projected
Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil. And he still maintains his integrity, though you incited me against him to ruin him without any reason.” “Skin for skin!” Satan replied. “A man will give all he has for his own life.  But now stretch out your hand and strike his flesh and bones, and he will surely curse you to your face.” The Lord said to Satan, “Very well, then, he is in your hands; but you must spare his life.”

2nd Scripture Reading: Mark 10:13-16 CEB              projected
People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them.  When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.  Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”  And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.
*Closing Hymn     “Let There Be Peace on Earth”                 172
Benediction (Unison)
May the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ strengthen all of us to bear all things, believe all things, hope all things, endure all things, with faith, with hope, and above all, with love.

Holy Communion
Prayer of Confession (Unison)
God of mercy, we confess that we have not loved you with all our being. We have done things which we ought not to have done and we have left undone things which we ought to have done. We have built walls between neighbors and between countries, and we have ignored the cries of those in need. Forgive us and set us free, that we may live into the hope of your calling and that your reign may come on earth as it is in heaven. Through Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.                       All pray in silence
Assurance of Pardon
When we come before God in humility and honesty, God draws near to us with forgiveness and renewed blessing. Thanks be to God! Amen.

A Service of Word and Table III                                           15
We practice an open communion in this house.  Whether you are a member of this congregation or of any church is of no consequence.  This is not our table, it is Christ’s table.  Christ our Lord invites to His table all who love him, who earnestly repent of their sin and seek to live in peace with one another.  Gluten free bread is available.  We receive communion this morning by the ancient method of intinction.

The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread.  And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.  And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
